Outreach to Occupy Pittsburgh
Outreach to Occupy Pittsburgh
We Greens agree with much of what the Occupy Pittsburgh movement stands for – transparency in government, grassroots democracy and people's power, protection of the environment, peace and prosperity for all peoples. Robert Piemme, secretary of the GPoAC, is organizing a trip to the Occupy Pittsburgh camp on Saturday, November 19th (the time is not yet set) to hand out Green Party papers and meet the occupiers. This is part of a friendly outreach to fellow progressives and environmentalists to let them know the there is a Green Party presence in Pittsburgh and that we support them. If you would like to join us, please call Robert at 412-784-0256 or send us an email.
We Need Your Help!
Dear friends of the Green Party of Allegheny County,
we are working on a brand new website that will include regular articles, updates on our events and gatherings, local progressive news and will feature a blog, photos, videos and much more.
We are asking for your help in two ways:
1.The GPoAC is putting together a newsletter and we are looking for a name. Several ideas have been submitted to us so far. If you have a suggestion, please let us know! In December we will have a consultative poll to see what name(s) are the most popular and will choose a name at our December 1st meeting.
2.Secondly, we are looking for current members of the Green Party to share their story of why they are Greens. We are asking people to submit their own personal story of why they choose to be “Green”, how they came to join the Green Party, their involvement in progressive action -in short a mini biography of “Why I Am a Green.” These stories will be posted on our newly updates website. We also ask that you send us a photo of yourself to include in the story.
Thank you very much,
Robert Piemme
Secretary, Green Party of Allegheny County
