Your Are Invited! Join Us for Our Presidential Caucus on Thursday, May 3rd!
Dear Friends of the Green Party,
We wish to announce that on Thursday, May 3rd from 7 to 8 PM we will hold our presidential caucus for Allegheny County.
All Green Party members, who are registered to vote as Greens can take part and vote in the caucus. Non-Greens are welcome to share their views, but they will not be allowed to vote. We invite everyone -Green Party members, friends and people interested in green politics and progressive action to join us!
For those of you who may not be familiar with the process, we hold a caucus because state election laws do not allow third parties to hold primaries, like the Republicans and Democrats do. Instead, we have our caucus where members discuss the presidential candidates for Green Party nomination and vote for their choice, this time: Rosanne Barr, Jill Stein, Write-in or No Candidate.
The final results are sent to the state party where everything is added together with other county caucus results to determine who delegates will vote for at the national convention in July.
The caucus agenda is as follows:
7 to 7:30 PM information on the candidates and discussion.
730-45PM voting process,
7:45-8 PM counting of results.
